AIM
To
find out the relationship between type of feather with the distance travelled
by the shuttlecock
HYPOTHESIS
Goose feather shuttle cock is the most suitable
material for playing badminton game.
APPARATUS
Measuring
tape, plastic shuttlecock, paper shuttlecock, goose feathered shuttlecock,
stainless steel – shooter.
VARIABLES
MANIPULATED VARIABLE : Type of feathers
RESPONDING VARIABLE : Distance it travelled
CONSTANT VARIABLE : Size of
shuttlecock
PROCEDURES
1. A shuttlecock shooter was set up.
2. Shuttlecocks were prepared with three types of feather

Paper
·
Plastic
·
Goose feathered
3. Plastic shuttlecock was dip into coloured-powder.
4. Plastic shuttlecock was shot three times to take the
average reading in a close room to avoid wind factor.
5. The distance travelled by the shuttlecocks was
measured by using measuring tape.
6. The procedures 1 until 5 was repeated with paper and
goose
7. Data was recorded.

DISCUSSION
We found that plastic feather shuttlecock travelled
1.43m. Paper feather shuttlecock travelled 1.17m.Goose feather shuttlecock
travelled 1.39m.This shows that plastic shuttlecock travelled further because
plastic is more heavier compare to other materials. Paper shuttlecock travelled
in shorter distance because paper is light. When paper shuttlecock travelled it
faced less air resistance. That is why paper could not travel further. Goose
feather shuttlecock travelled distance is in between of this two materials. Goose
feather faced more air resistance and because of that it does not allow it to
travel further. This is help the goose feather to travel in a given distance
when playing game.
CONCLUSION
Goose feather shuttle cock is the most suitable
material for playing badminton game.
